Documentary Organization of Canada
The Documentary Organization of Canada (referred to as DOC) is the country’s leading arts service organization dedicated to promoting, supporting and developing the art form and business of documentary media.
As a national non-profit with charitable status, DOC National is a vigorous professional association, providing approximately 800 members with an important network of peers and supporting their professional development through workshops, mentorship programs, guest lecturers, conferences, Point of View Magazine, DOC Space, a members list serve and more. DOC represents directors, producers and craftspeople in eight regional chapters.
In 1994, DOC National founded the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival in Toronto, North America's premiere documentary festival. DOC maintains its involvement in the festival in all areas from governance to content development and awards, and our members contribute many of the films selected each year for exhibition.
