Documentary and factual programming are undergoing drastic changes, not only in modes of financing and models of distribution, but also technical and creative challenges that affect every producer whether they are established or a first timer. You have a great idea for a documentary, perhaps even a series for television. You know how to make it and you are ready to go-but how? This workshop will take participants through the various stages of making a documentary, from development to post-production, delivery and launching your project. Participants will discuss the proposal, the documentary script, the budget, finding and hiring your crew and creative team, the pitfalls of the editing room and the importance of the producer/director relationship. The workshop will look at how to finance factual programming, be it big or low budget, in today's multi-platform environment. But once you have the money in place, how do you forge ahead and are you really finished when you've delivered your film?
