DOC Night Out presents Dany Chiasson's "My Joan of Arc"
On September 26th, the second installment of the newly minted DOC Night Out series will take place at The Annex Live, and with DOC Toronto Member Dany Chiasson presenting and discussing her recent film "My Joan of Arc" in a discussion moderated by famed local filmmaker Alan Zweig. View the trailer.
Synopsis: Driven by the memory of her grandmother, French-Canadian Director Dany Chiasson travels by horseback across France, retracing Joan of Arc's first 11-day ride over enemy land to meet the uncrowned King. Along the way, Chiasson meets the colourful characters of the French countryside who animate the surrounding history and attempt to help fulfill her dream: to hear the call of the skylark.
This screening will coincide with Culture Days, and we will be waiving the $10 ticket price for non-members. Come one, come all! DOC Night Out is hosted at The Annex Live (296 Brunswick) (opened recently by Graziano Marchese, past owner of Dooney’s Café!).
DOC Night Out is a casual monthly screening series and meet up that’s free for DOC Toronto members ($10 for Non-Members). An amalgamation of our past programs’ “DOC Salon”, “Rough Cuts” and our informal monthly pub gatherings, this screening series offers DOC Toronto members the opportunity to screen and discuss their work with their peers. Whether it’s something that needs to be workshopped before locking picture, a pressing social-issue doc, or a great film that’s just begging to be pulled off the shelf, DOC Night Out provides a casual and open social space to talk about our docs!
